“Coordinating School Safety with First Responders”

Tom McDonald of BeSafe will discuss the importance of proper coordination with first responders and schools.

Tom McDonald – CEO of BeSafe
Tom devoted the first chapter of his career to public education. From 1973 until 2006, he was a teacher, principal, and school superintendent. In the late 1990s, Tom recognized that site-based managed schools represented an important new opportunity for public schools and for improving student achievement. As a result, he won approval for a Horace Mann School and greater autonomy within the Barnstable, Massachusetts public school system. Tom overcame many hurdles and roadblocks as he made his school a model of what schools can do when given the ability to make their own decisions and manage their own finances. As a result of his success, he was appointed superintendent of the 6,000-student Barnstable, Massachusetts school system in 2004.
Tom is an acknowledged expert in school management, school administration, project development and delivery, and has extensive experience as a "team builder" for agencies and programs that need organizational review and direction.
In 2006, Tom started the second chapter of his career when he became CEO of BeSafe®.
